Well, the thankfulness never disappeared, of course, just the weekly posts about it did!
I took a break from blogging the first four months of this year and have posted rather sporadically since. I'm slowly comin' back. Someone whose blog I frequent decided to return to regular Thankful Thursday posting a couple of weeks ago and I was inspired to do the same, at least once in a while.
Today I'm thankful for the 13-1/2 dozen cottage cheese perogies I made together with my mother-in-law yesterday. We ate 2-1/2 dozen almost immediately for supper, together with farmer sausage and fresh corn on the cob, and the rest went in the freezer for some other time. Man, it just doesn't get any better than that!! (especially when the perogies are served with melted butter and generously-sprinkled brown sugar!)
I'm very thankful for the special group of women from our church who treated me to lunch on my 40th birthday last week.
When I walked into the restaurant and saw how many were there, I almost teared up a little. They made my week!!
I struggle with feelings of inadequacy when it comes to BEING a friend and seeing these women think I was worth their time and attention on a weekday, when they could all have been doing things that needed doing around their homes and yards, was just incredibly humbling and beautiful. I was surprised, too, by the additional number of women who phoned or talked to me in church on Sunday, expressing their regrets at just not having been able to make it. It seems I am loved! ♥
I was looking through my prayer journal a while back and noted that the short, written prayer that I begin each day with almost ALWAYS begins with, "Thank you for this beautiful morning." Since I KNOW some of those mornings were damp and dreary ~ or BEASTLY cold and windy! ~ I've obviously been acknowledging something that goes far beyond the weather...
