I can't believe seven of the ten weeks of summer holidays are already over. This summer has gone by too fast. I know I say it every year, but usually, there are at least stretches of days where the girls end up getting a little bored. Not this year.
I keep trying to figure out what we did differently this year; why it seems like we've been so busy. The only thing I can think of is that the girls are in swimming lessons during the holidays this year instead of while they're still in school in June, like the previous two years. Those "early bird" sessions at our outdoor pool are only available to the lower levels, and Mack completed the last one of those last summer, so we had no choice but to enroll them for a two-week session after school was out.
I guess we could have put them in the first two weeks of July. That wouldn't have interfered with our camping weekend with The Man's family or the girls' week at Bible camp. Had we done that, after arriving home from our last trip to The Big City, there would have been NO plans now in August, but in late spring when we were trying to plan how everything would fit together, that didn't seem like as great an idea as it does now!! I thought it would be better to spread everything out as evenly as possible over the summer, but now I wonder if I don't prefer having all the action in July and then a slower-paced August. You know, one where we actually have time to be bored every now and again!
We have no major plans for the next three weeks. This weekend our church family will meet at the lake for the day. Our lakeside service in June was cancelled due to rain, so hopefully this one won't be!
The Man's parents are planning to come out for a few days before the September long weekend, but it will be a low-key affair. They'll be bringing their 5th wheel, so I won't even need to make up the guest room or anything!
Like it or not, our short Canadian summer is winding down. The last few days felt very different from the humid warmth we experienced unusally often this year. We even got down to SINGLE DIGITS (mid-40s) a couple of nights this week!! That's a little below normal, but still... fall isn't far away.
Which means school isn't far away either.

Isn't it funny how much faster the summer goes by when you're busy all the time? Sounds like your girls have had plenty of activity to keep them from being bored.
And mid-40's temps? *Sigh*....
It was 72 when we went outside to lock everyone up at 9:30 pm. *WHEW*
