Practicing Gratitude

Hosted in December by Iris @ Grace AloneThankfulness time caught me by surprise this week.  I can't believe it's that time of the week already!

I'm thankful for the busy-ness of this time of year ~ helps keep my mind off the days that are getting shorter and shorter and shorter...  Right now, we still have 8 hrs 34 mins of sunlight, but from December 20-23, on those four days, we will have only 7 hrs and 40 minutes.  It's nice to have things to keep me busy these long winter evenings, at least for now!

I'm thankful those four shortest days of the year happen when they do.  I think it's so cool how Christmas Eve day marks the change towards increasing daylight.  How like the birth of Christ, the Son of God, offering us a new hope, a new day, a new LIFE, in the light of His coming!!  Which is, of course, the best and most important thing to be thankful for!

And I'm thankful for these sights around my home:

Because they just make me happy!

What's making YOU happy today?
I hope you've remembered to give thanks for it!!

I had never thought of the analogy of Christmas Eve being the shortest day leading to more light ...with the birth of our Savior. I like it, it's comforting.

Days here in the mountains are so super short... SADS happens. But like you I try to keep very busy and all the cheery Christmas lights help so much.

You have a lovely blog!
