But it was high time to rake:
You see what I mean? Normally, I wait until ALL the leaves are down, but I was in serious need of some activity points to counteract the effects of some out-of-control snacking I'd participated in earlier, so I thought it might not be a bad idea. Plus, I had a set of brand new Fiskars rakes to try out. (Did YOU know Fiskars made rakes?! Yeah, me neither. But hey, at $14 for the PAIR, I couldn't go wrong.)
Fidget tried to get the last leaves out of the trees for me, but soon gave up and went to play with Lucky instead.
But FINALLY after pulling ALL the leaves from the north side of the house from the back ALL the way to the driveway, it's time for the fun part ~ the BURNIN'!!
And all too soon, that fun is over, too.
But at least it's leaning-on-the-rake fun instead of actual raking "fun." Which isn't actually fun.
Although I have to say, as far as I'm concerned, it's one of the more enjoyable yardwork chores. Especially on a beautiful, warm sunny day with a wonderfully light-weight, smooth-handled, non-blister-creating-even-though-I-couldn't-find-my-gardening-gloves, aluminum Fiskars rake.
Annoyingly enough, the very next day, the north end of the lawn was covered in a new carpet of red leaves. You couldn't even tell I'd raked at all.
Ah well, I needed more exercise anyway.
Nuts, I may have to revisit the idea of raking the whole 4 acres after all...

I love Fall...even with the leaf-raking. I can't believe you raked four acres... I don't have to rake as we have few trees in the area close to our house. It's also pretty windy here; most leaves that do find their way into the "yard" area get blown away fairly soon. I don't bother with the wooded part of our property. We just leave it au naturel.
I love all the trees in our yard, but I hate raking. Usually Carey does the raking and I do the bagging. But this burning idea looks like a lot more fun. Do you think the city would mind? :)
lol. our leaves haven't fallen yet....well at least not that THAT much. if only we could burn in the city. we used to do that back home on the farm too. fun times!
Our leaves are still in the trees here! Tag! You've been tagged. Check out my blog for the rules.
Oh how I long for leaves. Wait, not if I can't burn them!! At dad's we did this all the time, now we have NO trees in our yard. So that's okay because the town would not appreciate that, hmmmm unless we put them in the fire pit?
I always want to do it. hikz...
Great job Tammi! Wanna come do mine? I'm still waiting for the rest of the leaves to fall. I don't feel like raking over and over and over......
First, I love the new profile pic with that SWEET PUP.
And I so want to visit and walk every single acre, it looks so stinking lovely.
I am all about the whole sense of raking leaves, but actually doing it, umm no so much. This is why we have a bagger on the mower. :)
The raking and especially the burning of leaves brought back lots of memories.Used to do this at home with Mom and Dad,now they get mulched and put on the flower beds.I can almost smell the burning leaves,Wonderful.
great photos, as always...I am glad that leaf raking is Con's job, lol!
wowzers!!! We have SO much weeding and mowing to do, but not too much raking. Phew! That is gorgeous but I'm tired just looking at it!
I bet it smelled so good.
Geez... I feel so lazy...
I used a blower last year to "rake" our leaves.
No, I take that back... I feel like a big REDNECK for just admitting that on the world wide web.
Ugh.
Love the photo at the top! No leaves for me to rake here - and to be honest it's not something I miss :-) Although it looks very beautiful.
